Introductory Phrases (Dutch-NL)

Here are some basic introductory phrases to get you started. Dutch pronouns can be “stressed” (or “marked”), or “unstressed” (or “unmarked”), which is explained in more detail in Lesson 3, which can be found here. Basically, “je” is informal and unstressed, “jij” is also informal but stressed, while “u” is formal. Also note that when using “je” or “jij”, the verb drops its final “-t” if preceding the pronoun, e.g. “jij bent”, but “ben jij”.
